Annual report (2009-2010 Accomplishments)

  • Encouraged and Organized Downtown Business and Property Owners to participate in Streetscape Meetings planning meetings and downtown construction meetings
  • Participated in Downtown Eustis Business Alliance meetings and functions
  • Participated in Eustis Area Chamber meetings and functions
  • Participated in George Fest planning and production
  • Participated in the African American Heritage Festival with loan and set up of Main Street’s stage
  • Attended three Main Street Conferences
  • Produced “Uniquely Eustis” fundraiser for Eustis Main Street and facilitated the Downtown Eustis Business and Professional Assoc. with their silent auction fundraiser to acquire funds ($2252) to be used for promoting the downtown during construction.
  • Completed audit for Fiscal year 2008-2009
  • Approved and implemented proposed Policy and Procedures manual
  • Organized group of Downtown Merchants, Eustis Chamber, Merchants Assoc., and City staff to plan promotions during Downtown Streetscape project
  • Participated in production of “Ground Breaking Ceremony”
  • Assisted City Staff by reviewing and advising on promotional materials they produced
  • Provided City staff a venue at First Friday Street Fest events to meet public and discuss Streetscape and other issues.   
  • Followed through on passage of State of Florida House Bill 1049 allowing 501(c)3 organizations to have 15 1-2-3 Day Alcohol Permits for outdoor events in Central Business District. 
  • Held Eustis Main Street, Inc. Annual Planning Meeting for 2010-2011
  • Eustis Main Street, Inc. was designated the Florida Program of the Month by the Interim Secretary of State Dawn K. Roberts for June 2010.
  • Eustis Main Street, Inc received National Main Street Accreditation for 2010


  • Displayed “Art in the Air” banners created by area professional and emerging artists in the historic downtown district.
  • Promoted and Participated in the 2009-2010 Eustis Public Sculpture Program including a “Meet the Artist” reception at Olivia’s Coffeehouse for the 2008-2009 Sculptors. 


  • Produced 12 Monthly First Friday Street Fests
  • Produced 12 Monthly Downtown Cruise-Ins
  • Produced the 12th Annual Lake County Folk Festival
  • Main Street entered the 2009-2010 Eustis Annual Sculpture exhibit in the United Arts of Central Florida’s Art Fest week
  • Produced the 23rd Annual “Light Up” Eustis Festival
  • Produced the 3rd Annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade
  • Produced Easter Sunrise Service
  • Produced three “A Musical Evening” fundraisers in conjunction with Bay Street Players
  • Promoted the  “Art in the Air” banner project created by area professional and emerging artists in the historic downtown district.
  • Started using Constant Contact and Face Book to improve electronic communications
  • Promoted the image of Eustis with production of quarterly event calendars showing Main Street events, plays at Bay Street Players, Art Openings, etc.  The Calendars also listed the district’s restaurants with contact information.
  • Promoted Eustis as a destination with pocket sized calendars and “Spend the day in Eustis!” brochure distributed through the Lake County Welcome Center, area businesses, Chamber, and through Main Street mailings and promotions.  It provided contact information for Bay Street Players, The Eustis Public Sculpture Tour, Florida Rail Adventures, Eustis Historical Museum, the Lake Eustis Institute, Lake Eustis Museum of Art, Lake Eustis Sailing Club, and the Trout Lake Nature Center.


Economic Restructuring:
  • Continued work on Business Tool Kit.
  • Promoted Eustis as a good place to do business, encouraging businesses to expand and/or relocate to Eustis.  Main Street events continue to create an atmosphere conducive to business recruitment. 
  • Referred inquiries about available retail space to property owners
  • Recruited new businesses to downtown
